Lessons learned installing client MacOS

Accelerate adoption by automating developer tool installation

You often get one chance to win adoption of JMeter or other client software among busy finicky developers. Giving developers a long list of manual instructions is a recipe for shelfware. So what do we do? There are dozens of apps. Create a client installation script so that every new developer has no issues starting the first day on a new Mac laptop. Balance choice with control by allowing selection by each developer. Don’t overwrite anything. Make a copy before changing. Keep timings. Write out versions installed. Lint the Bash and Python scripts. Beta test. These and other PROTIPs will be covered.
