RIA - Rich Internet Applications

Rich Internet Applications are web applications that provide features normally found in standard office applications. RIAs usually transfer any required processing to the web client's user interface and retain most of the data on the application server. Particular attention is paid to interactivity and speed of execution in these web applications, which are nowdays used in all sectors of business, including finance, the media, and industry. The ergonomic and intuitive features of an application lead to gains in efficiency for the end user.

NeoLoad RIA Support

The two main technologies used to develop RIAs are AJAX, where the application runs directly in the browser, and applications that run in a browser plug-in, such as:

• Adobe Flex
• Oracle Forms
• Microsoft Silverlight

NeoLoad natively supports RIA applications that exchange data in text or XML formats over HTTP. This is the case with AJAX applications.

HTTP data exchanges in the case of Flex or Oracle Forms are binary data exchanges.
Load testing tools cannot replay these messages without special processing, as they contain dynamic data that needs to be reassembled. NeoLoad provides the appropriate modules to handle these technologies.
